The Plan...

Known as the “Great Commission”, Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,  20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” When we at FBCOC take a look together at the command of Christ, we see a mission to make disciples that one day are disciple-makers themselves.  Too many churches are found guilty of leaving people to wander aimlessly, trying to figure out what being a Christian is all about. We want to be different.  We see a very simple process, in the design of Scripture, for spiritual growth, discipleship, and the church itself, which can be explained in 3 Steps:

#1 Loving Him

Matthew 22:37-38, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment.” Worship times are when we express “Loving Him” together. This is the starting point in our process of making disciples that make disciples. We want to encourage everyone to come and express “Loving Him” with us! Times of worship include messages that point people to a deeper “loving” relationship with our Heavenly Father through the Lord Jesus Christ.

#2 Loving You

Matthew 22:39-40, “The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”  Being a part of one another’s lives is obviously important to Christ.  He also said in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.” Stage two in our process is small groups. We don't want anyone left out.  We can learn best how to love one another by spending time learning from one another "all that [Christ] commanded".

#3 Serving All

We believe that step three is a critical component that is severely missing in the current era of the church.  The Lord told us to "Go" and "make disciples".  We do not believe that showing up to Worship Services or “Sunday School” is the finish line to a successful Christian walk.  We believe that there is much, much more.  Every person in the body of Christ is called to BE the Body.  The world needs to see the hands and feet of Jesus Christ through us, to see physical and emotional needs met through us, to see us deepening in our faith through serving one another and serving the world around us that has yet to see Him for Who He really is.  If we really are “Loving Him” and “Loving You”, we will carry the message, mercy, and the means of Christ to everyone, everywhere, by “Serving All”.

Really being a disciple of Christ, one of His followers, is evidenced in the pursuit of leading others into that same discipleship, or follow-ship.  It is our desire that as each individual, each small group, and each ministry of our church seeks opportunities to be “Serving All”, we will see tomorrow's generation of Christ followers rising up to the wonderful call of the Kingdom of God. Mark 10:43-45 43“…whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; 44and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Come and join us as we are committed to:
Loving Him, Loving You, and Serving All!
